Not too often, a little animal person creeps or leaps into your life, and keeps you centered. They might be your best friend in life, but the relationship is unmistakable...they are your child. I was reminded of this on the recent celebration of this Mother's Day. I was missing all my mothers...my real mom, my aunt mom, my mother-in-law mom, my step-mother mom, and some others thrown in, this year. Chester helps me get through the loss. My little Chester can't say mom out loud, but I always know what he is thinking, what he needs, where he wants to go, and which toy I need to throw at that given moment. I've never given birth to children, and am blessed with having two grand daughters through my wonderful husband's son. But Mother's Day is still celebrated in our home, because I am Chester's mom. He turned eleven this year, and the idea of him getting older scares me to death. I just learned of a very talented artist losing her dear companion, and my heart aches for her. And still, I wouldn't have it any other way. Chester is my joy in each and every day, with his toothy grins, and constant kisses. He pesters me until I'll throw something for him when I've been working too hard, and need a break. We have a mutual loving and respectful relationship, each knowing what will make the other happy.
Now really, isn't that what makes motherhood so wonderful ?
