The lucky winner!

WE HAVE A CONTEST WINNER!

I am happy to announce, that we have a winner of my etched bird box. I would love to post pictures of how WH and I just wrote out all the names on tickets (we bought a roll from Walmart today), put them in a coffee pot, and selected a random name, from my followers. BUT, the cord for the camera is packed away. Duh! Didn't plan that well.

Studio Sylvia...congratulations!
Email me with your address girl.

Now why, you might ask, did I use tickets and a coffee pot? Because I am sitting in a motel room in Tumwater, WA, on our way back to our little summer hang out, in the San Juan Islands. I said I was going to have a drawing on the 15th, and by golly, we did it! I didn't want anyone disappointed that we missed our target date, so I was happy to make it happen this evening.

The trip has been a rather uneventful one, which is a great thing! We left CA on Saturday morning, and have been making our way up the coast, enjoying ourselves. We're trying to slow down and smell the roses a little bit more on this journey, and can stay anywhere we like, since we are between doggies right now. Yes, I said "between" doggies. We'll see, I know another angel is in our future, just don't know when.

I can't thank all of you enough for your warm, loving and caring comments and support through my loss of my sweet fur baby Chester. I can't believe how many others have experienced this same loss so recently. Almost like a wave of losing our fur babies. I am so sorry for each of your losses, recently, and in the past. I really get that I'm not the only one hurting, or who have experienced the same pain from loss.

We all have wonderful things to look forward to. Life is good and rich with bright colors and love, I can just feel it. We are all so lucky to have found each other in this wacky blog land, and can continue to lend support, love and comfort.

A HUGE hug to all of you.

Riki, what a super duper wonderful surprise. I am so excited. Thank you so much. Very, very unexpected, I can tell you.
Your box is lovely. I will await it's arrival with great anticipation.
I understand your sadness as we lost Cleo, our much loved dog, very unexpectedly. The sadness and loss was immense. Zulu is our new four legged family member. He helped to lessen the hurt, and brings us so much happiness, however Cleo is definitely not forgotten won't be.

Sweet Riki, thank you for having such a wonderful giveaway! Lucky Sylvia!
I am so glad you are "smelling the roses". That is a wonderful thing & so many of us have to LEARN that. Isn't it funny that we have to make it a thought/planned thing? Shame really. SLOW DOWN! TAKE TIME FOR WHAT MATTERS TO YOU! Also, glad you get to go to your hide away in Oregon. I can't wait to see it. Enjoy every moment & find that camera cord & take some photos of the area to "tease us with" HUGS! Charlene

Riki,
Yes we did find Rufus or he found us. It was about 2 months before our dog of 14 years passed away. Rufus was left on the road, as we live in a rural area this happens. I guess people think we have room for more dogs out here in the country. Well Rufus was pitiful covered in matted hair, fleas, ear infections and a smell that was....he needed a BATH!!! This was on a Sunday night, I called area vets and read the paper for missig dogs. On Monday I took him to our vet to have him scanned for a microchip. No microchip and the vet said in the shape Rufus was in, no one would claim him and if they did you wouldn't want him going back there anyway. The vet determined he is about 1 year old. We gave him his shots, took care of the ear infections, had him neutered and gave him that bath. He is a pure joy, I have to watch as he sometimes forgets about the potty being outside. I truly believe he found us, to ease us over the soon to be loss of our Tawny(14 year old). Our other dog is Judy, sold to me as a mix of Lhasa apso and Chiwawa, but looks to be part raccoon!! Rufus has claimed me as his, so he tries to keep himself between Judy and I. Judy still manages to get her love when Rufus isn't looking.
(If I am this silly over dogs, think what my future grandchildren will have to endure).

Hi Riki,
Nice work... from a hotel room. I like the tickets in a coffeepot drawing. Congrats to Sylvia.
I think it's good that you're going north for the summer. This will ease the loss of your fuzzy friend some. I know you miss him so. Chester will always be in your heart...but there will be others. I didn't think I could ever get over losing Maggie and Moke... but Carl and Cutter are the new little "heartbeats at our feet" now and each one bring new love and wonder into our lives.
Have a wonderful summer....

Hi Riki,
I'm so glad your taking some time for R&R. Maybe uneventful but at this time in your life its probably a good thing. Yes, stop and smell the roses or Sea air in your case! I'm thrilled to hear your thinking of a new Fur baby. Nothing will ever take Chesters place but I'm sure theres plenty of room in your heart for a new little bundle of LOVE. Enjoy your Journey and CONGRATS to your winner.
