New Year's Contest

Yes, New Year's Calls!

New blog look, new year, new friends, new challenges!!!

That means it's giveaway time dear friends....

I put a sweet little pile of hand picked goodies in the giveaway for you.  Hopefully, something for everyone.   There are cdv's, a tin type, antique buttons,  vintage lace,  some of that bling I've been talking about,  antique keys, some large bullet cases, a vintage doily for sewing enthusiasts, a COPY of a sheet of hand writing my dear friend Jill brought back for me from Italy just recently...

AND, two fun items I made, a sweet brass etched box, with a fleur de lis and French writing, and a brass stamping with a little nest soldered to it, ready to make a necklace.

Sweet vintage glass buttons, glass drop pearls.

A close up of the amazing hand written letter from Italy, it is a copy mind you, but beautiful.  Fun for scraping, or putting behind resin.

SO...

this is the beginning of a New Year for all of us, a new start for all of us.  My heart goes out to those who have struggled at some time in the past year.  I hope all your challenges have been met and dealt with, and you landed on top of each one.

I am personally glad this year is behind me.  I had to deal with some tough things.  Family issues, and the loss of my dear Yorkie, Chester.  I was able to get past it all, heal from the hurt and bring a new love into our lives, little Miss Maddie the Havanese.  I discovered so many things about myself from the disappointments throughout the year.  That is such a benefit, learning from the pain.

All is behind us now.  Let's play!

To enter this little giveaway, leave me a comment below so I know you want to be entered.  If you post this on your blog, please let me know, you get two opportunities.  The contest closes and I'll do the drawing on Monday, January 10.

Let's make it a party.  You are all invited.  To play at the party, leave a New Year's resolution in your comment below.
Come on, write it out so everyone can see it!!
I guarantee you will do it then!!

Riki's New Year's resolutions:
  • play with my dog more
  • just play more
  • be more organized in my bookwork for my business (yes it is a business)
  • try 12 new things in my jewelry designs, never used before, one per month (join me in that?)
  • exercise at least 30 minutes each day
  • try to cut out all sugar (not wine!)
  • give support to friends and family
  • never be judgmental, you don't know the whole story
Thank you to each and every one of your who reached out to me during this past year.  I love hearing from you, loved your support, loved the sharing and learning more about you.

And a VERY special thank you to Susie, of Vintage Susie, who designed my new, fresh, feminine and clean blog for me.  I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it.  If you feel like a new look for 2011, look her up! She is not only talented, but especially sweet and kind.

Have a very Happy New Year. May it bring you good luck and much happiness.
See you soon. Good luck!
love and hugs,
Riki

This year, I'm working to "lighten" - lighten my spirit, my attitude, my stuff, my weight, lighten the spirit of others as well. Thanks for the opportunity here! Cool stuff!

Love the new look, Riki! It is light and fresh and so feminine. What a lot of loot that is!

I have a goal to USE WHAT I HAVE this year as much as possible. And to get my paperwork wrangled ( I say that every year. This year has to be different!)

Enjoy the day!

What a fun giveaway!! I LOVE it all.

My goal is not to buy any more "stuff" just because. I must keep on task and pass up some of those "deals on stuff" that might come in handy in the future......or not. I need to use what I have before it takes over my house.

I love the blog, Riki! Light, bright, open ... it really shows off your jewelry. You could even make those jewelry photographs larger. I've been admiring Waterstone's blog for a while and I realized it's because it's the photography that is the focus of the page. It looks as though you're moving in that direction too! Wonderful new look ... Congratulations!

Kathy said...

I like goals versus resolutions...so I have several - keep a journal on what I buy (got to learn how much I spend first, lol), complete one UFO each month, exercise twice a week, do something organizational every week.

Love the new look! It's so soft and calming, makes me reminisce about my Grammy. And what wonderful goodies! What better way to start the New Year.

I don't really do resolutions per se but I hope to be more focused this year in my work. Really hone in on technique instead of being all over the place. I guess it's just my personality, I gotta try everything.

Happy New Year

I love everything you are offering up! The blog is very pretty also. My main resolution this year is to find a balance between everything: work, exercise, fun, jewelry making, etc. There are always so many things I want to do, and I think if I spend a small amount of time doing each thing, I will, hopefully, have time to do everything I want to do! Thanks for the giveaway!!

What a lovely fresh new look on your blog!

I chose not to make resolutions, but rather made goals to enjoy life more, and to get more organized. Also, I 'unofficially' chose the word GRACE.

What lovely prizes! I hope I'm a winner....

I love following your blog Riki. Your work is so inspirational.

I don't make resolutions but hope to make more time to spend creating new jewelry. I tend to say "yes" to anyone and anything. This year will be the year of "let me think about it" before I commit.

A New Year with a new beginning.

Lisa Loria said...

Blog looks GREAT Riki and your giveaway fabulous!
Please enter me and I will add it to my blog as well.
I have lots of resolutions, but have decided to create a online journal called 365 days of gratitude. (It will be up later today) Each day I will write one word of what I am thankful for and why. 2010 was SUPER tough for me financially and I am counting on 2011 to be better. Instead of focusing on what is bad, each day to wake up to something that I am grateful for will help me focus and maybe inspire others too.
Much love to you and to a great year!
Love your new puppy!

Hi there! This is my first visit to your blog...wow! Eye candy! LOVE your style...really speaks to me.

My resolution is to experiment and PRACTICE more often to find my own personal style. I've taken a few online classes in the last several months and read some great books...I've tried lots of new techniques, but want to develop my own personal style more (I don't want my stuff to look like copies of someone else's work!). Happy New Year to you too!

Your new blog look is fantastic--so beautiful and fresh! The one resolution I might be able to stick to, is to record some of my memories either on paper or on a Word document for my children and grandchildren. I don't normally make resolutions, but I think this one, for me, is important. I will put your giveaway on my sidebar--Happy, Happy New Year--I'm so glad I discovered your beautiful blog!

I am hoping to be more organized this year, and not wait until the last minute to get things I want to get done! I tend to think that things will take less time to accomplish than they actually do take, and then I end up getting upset and mad at myself for not getting them done earlier!!! I also resolve to have more fun and take those opportunities to goof off with friends as they come up, rather than waiting until the "perfect" time, because there never will be a "perfect" time!

Hope your new year is a great one!

I love visiting your blog and the new look is GREAT!
I'd love to be in your drawing.
My resolution is also one word.
BUILD
Build a better life (what's important...if it's not...get rid of it)
Build a better business (more productive and marketing)
Build a more soothing environment (move the clutter, organize, stop procrastinating)
Build friendships (cherish the ones I have and make new ones, be kinder and more patient)
Build ME (healthier--lose weight, like ME more, treat ME with kindness)
Build my confidence.
Thank you for sharing from your heart.
I will be sharing your post on my blog.
Happy New Year Riki!

I don't make resolutions for New Year's, but I do have "goals"... to use what I have instead of buying things, declutter my house, get more organized, and to spend less time worrying/stressing and more time having fun creating and enjoying my life.

Kim Palmer said...

Love the new look blog Riki, isn't it great! Woohoo, a giveaway, but...New Years resolutions Huh! Hmm... not very good with them in general but I'll give it a go. Truthfully mine is simple, to take my art to bigger and better places. Push myself more, refine skills, learn new techniques, challenge myself. I want to look back on the year at the end of 2011 and seriously say, 'I did it! I pushed myself to try harder and look what I have achieved!' Not too much to ask really? Naaa! LOL!

I linked over from Vintage Susie! Love your handiwork!!! I made some 2011 Things to Do, which include working on my creativity, adding more protein to my diet and continuing to save money. Happy New Year to you!!! May you have much success in all aspects of your life!

Love this! Resolutions - the standard: eat less, exercise more. Not so standard: find more time to be creative, make sure that I get a hug from both kids each day, and tell people who are important to me that they are important to me regularily.

My Resolution for 2011 is to do 3 things! 1.Speak up and be heard
2.Plan for tomorrow
3.Do not do to others, that they have done to you!
2010 proved to be one of the most trying year of my life, and I am glad it is over!

My resolution this year is to live with intention, to be consistent in attitude, random with acts of kindness, and strong in faith. In terms of the passion for jewelry making, I hereby adopt Riki's idea to learn and design 1 new technique each month. (What a great idea!)
