Workshop remodel!

The end is in sight!
For my workshop remodel that is! If you haven't ever bought cabinets from Ikea for any reason, take a look at them next time. I am so impressed with the quality for the money. And they have so many choices. (No, I don't work there or own stock!) We brought home a truckload of boxes, I mean a huge truckload, and WH was up to his eyeballs in drawer sides, pulls, counter tops, bookcases....well, you get the idea! He spent the entire day putting all these pieces together from Ikea instructions, that are just pictures. I couldn't make sense of them, kept turning them upside down, right side up. But WH worked through it all and made it happen. Here's a before, and after shot of the process. You'll recognize the difference!

Boy was I tired. Had to run to the kitchen for a zillion ice tea refills for WH (that's wonderful husband by the way). Made him lunch, kissed his feet a thousand times, and voila. I love have a handy guy as a husband!! My workshop is transformed. I still have some finishing touches, like some fun stuff for the walls. And we covered up the only electrical plug in connected to the light switch with a cabinet, oops. So there will be some tweaking. I can see the end in sight.
Go look at Ikea cabinets! Anyone else had the same experience? Any remodels you want to show off, or just plain great studios? I know you have one out there!

Can I borrow WH for a few days, please? I give good foot rubs ;o) hehehe...

How exciting...fresh and new and organized. When I moved in July, that lasted about 3 weeks. Oh well, such is life.
Enjoy!

Your studio is so bright and sunny. Looks like Robin's Egg Blue on the walls? I love Ikea, my husband hates Ikea! I think you know why!

Riki! I am loving it. It looks so airy and fun =) And, when I clicked on the picture, I saw beautiful flowers crawling on a fence outside your window. Now, I am really lovin' it =)
Then, I scrolled over a little to the right....and I saw a gorgeous Texas Longhorn and a tiny little princess standing right there in your workshop! I was thrilled!
I am there with you every day, and didn't even know it!!...how cool is that?

What a lovely work space. Those cabinets are wonderful!! I also love the container store. My studio was recently re-organized due to a small flood in it. What a mess! But now all back together and I enjoy working out there.

Nothing better than a talented WH in my book. What would we do without them??? Your new studio is looking pretty awesome... I'm sure you can't wait to get in there and make it your own. Thanks for sharing....

That WH of yours is really a great guy. Do you rent him out by the hour for those of us that have handyman challenged husbands? Everything looks so clean and orderly.

Wow...the studio is lookin good, Riki. How's your back after bending down a thousand times kissing WH's feet? He certainly is a wonderful guy all around. I know you will enjoy playing in your new space.

Hi Riki! A quick thank you for stopping by. I love your blog. You don't run across much actual metalsmithing, I'm so happy that I clicked your link! I'll be following! I too, have been working on a room of my own, and recently did a post on it. {It's one of those 'great-mind' things.} I'm back and forth about painting it the same color that you have. I've already done the guestroom that sweet, calm shade. How much do you suppose I could get away with? And . . . it's so nice to see a girl who appreciates her husband. Bless him! . . . and Bless you!
