January 2010 Contest

JANUARY GIVEAWAY CONTEST!!
It's finally here...the opportunity to win a necklace hand made by me, as a thank you to all of you out there that have contributed to my first year in the blogging world.
I selected a sweet little bee necklace, soldered to some of my etched brass, strung on a colorful lavender metal cord with some fun mixed metals. I hope you like it and would like to participate in the contest.
So how do you win this little guy? Just leave me a comment. Once you leave a comment, your name is entered, and thrown in to the bowl, so anyone can enter.

BUT, if you post a comment about the contest on YOUR blog, you get two extra entries in the contest. Just let me know you posted, and you automatically get a total of three chances to win!! What a deal, huh? So go forth, spread the word. The drawing will take place after my class next weekend. So I will draw a name on that following Monday, Feb. 8th.

I want to thank each of you who have ever left a comment on my blog. It has been such an incredible experience engaging in conversation with each of you over the last year. I had no idea what an amazing opportunity this blog would offer meeting such incredible people, and be a small part of their amazing lives. You are all the most supportive, caring, talented and amazing women (sorry, no guys have shown up).

I thank you for your friendship, guidance, and creative intelligence and look forward to many more years of sharing and conversation. It's going to be a great year!! Don't forget to BREATHE!

Sneak Peak!

So where has Riki been lately?

I've been working hard on getting ready for my classes in Houston, at the all jewelry retreat, Adorn Me! from March 2-7. I'm getting really excited about teaching the classes, and have been making examples.
I'll be teaching a hinged cuff bracelet class, and here are a few examples.

I'm supplying everything for the bracelet class, so all the students have to do is show up with their tools and get ready to have fun! I have to show you the darling kits I'm making to put all the supplies in, another time!

Please contact me if you are interested in the class and have any questions. I would love to see you there.

So how are all of my blogging buddies out there? I haven't been in touch much, a lot happening in my world. My little boy dog is ill. Had surgery and will undergo chemo, we'll see how he does with it. Watching your four legged kids get ill is so heart wrenching, I haven't been able to eat or sleep. But he's doing much better than I am. Please send lots of hugs and kisses Chester's way, we need all the positive thoughts and love we can get.

Take care everyone. And I still intend to do a giveaway to celebrate my one year blog anniversary.

PMC Workshop in France

BONJOUR!
Hadar goes to France!
For my French friends who might be interested in taking a fabulous precious metal clay workshop in their country, just wanted to let you know I saw a posting about this. Hadar Jacobson is a wonderful teacher from California, USA. I have not taken a workshop from her, but have friends who have, and love her teaching, and her beautiful work.
Go to this link to read about when and where.
What a great way to play! Have fun.

Alameda Antique Flea Market 1/10

In a "flea-ing" moment!
What better way to ring in the New Year, than a flea market? I'm not sure there is one, well, maybe. But this was a ball! Diana and I got the urge to make a spontaneous trip to the Alameda Flea Market in Oakland, CA last weekend. We decided on Friday to leave Saturday, spend the night, and shop till we dropped on Sunday. Then drive the four hours home Sunday night. WOW, was it worth it! Spent way too much money, now have to work harder than before, yikes!!

This is my good friend Diana Frey shopping at one of the hundreds of booths, (sorry girlfriend, I know its not the most flattering shot). We found so many goodies to choose from, my eyes were in overload from candy!! Here are some of the pics, then my stash further down!
Look at these gorgeous door knobs. I really haven't seen so many together. They were pricey, but amazing.

Here's some eye candy for my friend Diana Cook! What do you think?

Okay, here's my stash. I can't decide which I like the best??? Love the doll's head. Need a name for him/her??? Any suggestions? Love the little book, watch for pics of some jewelry on that little treasure. Love the little watches, might make some multi-media trinkets to take to Adorn Me in Houston, to sell on vendor night.

Isn't the photo of that woman priceless? I love the outfit, a wedding maybe?? Love the compasses, key openings, oh, so many fun things.

Wish you all could have been there! We ate dinner Saturday night at a fabulous Oakland restaurant called Le Cheval, a French-Vietnamese restaurant. Yummm. If I had taken my camera, I would have shown you the dishes we had, so French!
Thanks for stopping by and flea-ing with me!! Stay tuned to a giveaway this month for my year anniversary as a blogger. Happy New Year!
