Bead Soup Reveal 2012

6th Bead Soup Blog Party

It's finally here, the August 25th Reveal.  This year Lori Anderson had over 400 participants! Wow, way to go Lori, that is amazing.

I'm thrilled to be a part of it, and was paired up with a wonderful artist glass from Germany, Kathrin Lembke.  Her work is amazing!

Here are the beautiful items she sent me.  Kathrin hand made the lovely glass focal, and all the smaller glass beads.  She incorporated a cream, dark navy and brown hues, so pretty!

So here is what I did with some of those beautiful gifts.
I wrapped her focal, and gave it that vintage look I love. Really challenging for me, since I don't normally work with glass, and it was so much fun!

And here is how the whole necklace looks.  I incorporated a few crystals, a wrapped key, some chain, and voila!

What a fun project.  I used the beautiful toggle in the front, instead of hiding it in the back.
Fun, huh?

And here is what I sent to Kathrin. I made a pendant, with some vintage items, attaching a vintage rhinestone earring!  Then I thought some blue Amazonite and Chalcedony might be fun, with some beautiful pearls and bone, and threw in some crystals and bling.  What Kathrin creating is just amazing!! Go check it out!! It is sooooo beautiful!
Great job partner!

Thank you Lori Anderson!! You did an amazing job with your Bead Soup once again!
Thanks for all your hard work.

Here's the third and final reveal.  You can hop around and see all the amazing creations.

Beautiful necklace Riki! Love the wrapped key.

I love it! You should work with glass more, scope out some pieces for your signature style, because it really works! I love the addition of the key and I personally would totally wear that!

THANK YOU for coming to the party and I hope you come again (and bring friends!)

Riki, your work is just beautiful. I think you could start with nothing and create something elegant. Your "signature" is all over your work!

Riki, I'm not a huge vintage lover, but I truly love what you did with this necklace. I gravitate towards lampwork and metal, but I just may try bringing in a little bling! Nicely done.

I knew you would make something spectacular and You didn't disappoint. What a gorgeous piece! It evokes an earlier time where victorian women wore gowns and danced the night away.

Karen Williams said...

What fun! Such an interesting combination of different materials, but it all works. And I like the sort of subtle, steampunk aspect to the design. Think part of it is that the way you handled Kathrin's focal bead reminded me of a watch face, which makes me think steampunk immediately. :)

Oh how much fun is that!!!! I LOVE the blues that you sent your partner! And YOU did a great job with the goodies she sent you (but, of course you did) I am so excited that we will see each other soon. In fact I am about to go book my air for the trip. And I'm thrilled you're bringing Susan H.... I have missed seeing her this summer too (& of course you since you've been up north while I was in the SLO area). You'll be speaking French pretty soon & I know you are so excited about that!!!! HUGS! Charlene
